Classroom as Genome: Using the Tools of Genomics and Bioinformatics to Illuminate Classroom Observation Data.

classroom observation protocols can provide very rich form data. However, this is a double-edged sword, because researchers often struggle to take full advantage of the detailed data output. In this essay, we introduce a new approach to classroom observation data analysis, called “class as the genome” (CAG).

We illustrate how real-time data and classroom observations genomic data can be seen as quite analogous, both conceptually and in terms of downstream analysis. We provide examples of abstract and concrete about how the tools of genomics and bioinformatics can be applied to the output of classroom observation.

We also show how this philosophy allows for layering analysis of information from several observation protocol to data the same class. CAG approach allows researchers to explore the biology education in classrooms detailed patterns were observed in a very scalable

Description: Description of target: This gene encodes a member of the CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein (C/EBP) family of transcription factors. The protein functions as a dominant-negative inhibitor by forming heterodimers with other C/EBP members, such as C/EBP and LAP (liver activator protein), and preventing their DNA binding activity. The protein is implicated in adipogenesis and erythropoiesis, is activated by endoplasmic reticulum stress, and promotes apoptosis. Fusion of this gene and FUS on chromosome 16 or EWSR1 on chromosome 22 induced by translocation generates chimeric proteins in myxoid liposarcomas or Ewing sarcoma.
